Living with kids can not only be hard on the wallet, but it can also very exhausting.  This is why Alma Latina thought it would be a great idea to compile a list of places where on any given day parents can take a day off from the kitchen and treat the kids to a family day out, going for a meal at a restaurant, but without having to break our wallets… too much, that is.

To follow up on our “Where to Eat Free on Your Birthday” note of a few months ago, we decided to try and give parents a break and provide you with a list of restaurants that offer free meals for kids.  Here are a few participating restaurants we found that provide free meals for the little ones.  We hope you enjoy the day away from the kitchen and that you build some good memories while having a nice lunch or dinner with the family.  Buen provecho!

East Side Mario’s – Italian food is one of my kids’ favourites.  We were very happy to receive a coupon in the mail from our Pickering location where you can either use the $10 off coupon if you spend $30 on food or non-alcoholic beverages (check the location nearest you to find out if all locations are participating) or you can take advantage of their Kids eat free every day of the week, promotion, at any time, with the purchase of an adult entrée.  The kids meal has to be chosen from the Mini Mario’s Meal menu and children must be 10 years old and under.

Crabby Joe’s Tap & Grill: Another favourite of ours, at Crabby Joe’s kids 12 and under eat free on Sundays with the purchase of an adult entrée.  It’s dine-in only and there’s a limit of one child per adult entree.  It’s not valid with any other special or promotion.

Denny’s: At Denny’s, kids eat free on Tuesdays after 4:00 p.m with the purchase of an adult entrée, and there’s also a limit of one child per adult.  It doesn’t include a drink.

Melanie Pringles: This Whitby restaurant is a throwback to the Grease days of milkshakes and hamburgers, an homage to the ’50s and ’60s era.  It’s a great and interesting way to spend a day with the family as this restaurant offers a Kids Eat Free promotion when the little ones come accompanied by a paying adult.  This takes place on Wednesdays, 5:00 p.m. to closing time.

Pizza Hut: We contacted the Ajax location and they confirmed that kids 12 and under eat free on Tuesday afternoons, after 4:00 p.m. Check the location nearest you to confirm.  This promotion is for dine-in restaurants only.

The Mongolian Grill: The Mongolian Grill is not the usual fare of hamburgers and fries, but it offers the kids, especially those picky eaters, with an abundance of choices, many of them quite healthy, as customers pick the ingredients and the food is cooked right before their eyes.  Kids 10 and under eat free on Mondays after 5:00 p.m with an accompanying adult.  Check with the location nearest you, as some restrictions apply.

Casey’s Bar & Grill: At Casey’s, kids eat free on Wednesdays.  Children must be 12 and under to participate and must choose their free meal from the kids menu.  One kids’ meal per entrée.

Golden Griddle: Their menu includes breakfast favourites like pancakes, waffles and omelettes as well as burgers and sandwiches.  At Golden Griddle, kids eat free every day from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m.  One child per adult entrée purchased with a minimum value $8.00.

Shoeless Joe’s: Kids 12 and under eat free every Sunday with the purchase of an adult entrée.  Restricted to one child per accompanying adult.
