Having just opened this past March, Pickering’s new Pickle Barrel is already creating quite a stir across the region. With a beautiful patio facing a huge outdoor TV screen, it’s the perfect place to enjoy any World Cup game with a side of delicious food and drink. It is located right beside the Pickering Town Centre, so you could go shopping before or after as well, it would be a great day out!

Although to some this might be known as a place more traditionally visited for dinner with friends and family, taking a left at the entrance will lead you to the bar area of Ajax’s Boston Pizza. Here you will find a completely different environment than the dining side: barstool seating, huge TV screens and even a projector screen playing the match in a room full of passionate fans. Order up some classic BP appetizers and drinks and enjoy cheering on your favourite team!


Bollocks Pub & Kitchen – 30 Taunton Rd E, Whitby

Known for having the largest video wall in Durham Region, Bollocks Pub & Kitchen is the perfect place to go to watch the game with a side of greasy pub food and drinks. They even have a competition currently underway in the spirit of the World Cup — the prize is 1 of 2 amazing trips to either England or Amsterdam! Portly Piper Pub – 557 King St E, Oshawa

The Portly Piper Pub has already won hearts across Ajax and even Pickering, but the newer Oshawa location is quickly raising the bar! The ambiance is extremely inviting and the massive big screen TV behind the bar, and even more spread all around the pub just makes it all the better for sports fans. If you’re intrigued but live in the Western side of Durham Region, don’t worry! Portly Piper’s south Ajax location is also a great alternative to enjoy the game and some finger lickin’ wings.

For anyone looking to enjoy the World Cup matches in a more relaxed environment, the Moxie’s in Pickering is a perfect choice! The TVs are a bit smaller but surround the entire bar, so you can sit and relax on a barstool with a drink while you watch. Food options might be a bit pricier than an average pub but are delicious and well-portioned nonetheless! There are also booths in the lounge if you would prefer to sit and eat a meal peacefully, all the while glancing over to see the score.

Although there is a St. Louis in almost every township and city in Durham, we have specified the Ajax one in this list (although we’re sure you would have an amazing experience at any of them). The restaurant has huge TVs on every wall, and the back wall has a video wall set up so that you can watch your favourite team play on the biggest screen possible! All this and a side of their signature Wings Poutine? Sounds like a great match day!

With TVs of all sizes spread across the restaurant, whether they be tiny and in the booths or huge and hanging off the ceiling, everywhere you look you’ll be able to watch the match! You didn’t think we’d forget about Port Perry residents, did you? The Pub has an exhilarating atmosphere, great food, friendly patrons and a kind staff. For those near or in this beautiful nook of Durham, The Pub is a great place to go to watch a match!

Last, but certainly not the least, the final location on our list is a little further east in Durham — Ballers Sports Bar and Grill is the place to go in Courtice to watch the World Cup surrounded by other football fans! With 20 HD big screens along with an HD projector, you could probably sit in any corner of the restaurant and be met with a great viewing experience along with delicious pub food.
